A native of the San Francisco Bay Area (and no, he does not refer to San Francisco as “Frisco” or California as “Cali”), Andrew graduated from the University of Michigan with an A.B. in Political Science and a minor in Spanish Language and Literature. GO BLUE! Upon graduation, he received a commission in the U.S. Marine Corps and served nine years as a finance officer and comptroller. During this time, he oversaw the budget for the Atlantic fleet, drafted the Service-level budgets that were submitted to Congress on behalf of the President of the United States, developed key operational financial reporting capabilities in the Cognos BI suite, and improved several key financial processes through automation. Andrew is a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and assigned to the Pentagon.
On the Managerial Reporting Project, Andrew is a data analytics developer on UBI Engage where he does end-to-end app development using QlikSense and QlikView in support of the distributed reporting effort. He finds this role particularly rewarding because he gets to collaborate with a wide array of business and technical users to solve critical University business problems. Andrew was previously an ETL developer on the MRP Data Architecture team as well as lead process improvement efforts on the MRP Orange Teams.
He also holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA and published his master’s thesis in the Journal for Cost Analysis and Parametrics.
Andrew is married and has two children. When not at work, he is probably outdoors with his family…whether his kids like it or not.
